One of the great wastes of all-time: AOL

Time Warner is finally ridding itself of AOL … (click here) … At one time AOL was THE power of the internet with opportunities to buyout Yahoo, Amazon and Ebay.  Instead they merged with TWX and while management got rich, shareholders got screwed. 

Books have been written about this ill-fated merger, but at the end of the day it’s just another example of how corporate America is more concerned with their stock options than they are creating a long term franchise.  There are reasons why the USA is in the toilet and this is just one of many examples.
